Staging is word that gets thrown around a lot these days;but, what does it really mean or entail? Staging your home simply means preparing it for viewing. Statistics state that a well-staged property sells 30 to 50 percent faster compared to those that look run-down. Staging the average home does not require the homeowner to ‘break the bank’ so to speak. Staging can be very affordable, depending on the condition of your home and the amount of work that needs to be accomplished. Because of the raised awareness, which has resulted in higher expectation, staging your home before putting it on the market is a must.

The first thing that you need to do is to get rid of the clutter and organize every room. This should also be the time that you have to pack all your belongings. If you want to leave behind some furniture, make sure these are in good condition. If you have cabinets and drawers, take away unnecessary things. You should also look into your kitchen and bathroom cupboards. Arrange the bottles and utensils found within these spaces.The next step is to check your house for damages. See if there are any cracks, leaky faucets, stripped-off paint, or creaking doors, etc. If you notice one or more of these, you have to tend to them right away. You may also apply neutral colors to the wall for a cleaner appearance. Third, you have to take away personal items such as trophies, collectibles and family photos. It will be easy for the potential buyers to imagine themselves living in the house if your pictures are not on display. Lastly, create a wider space in your home. If you must, get rid of bulky sofa beds and furnishings. Make each room seem spacious since clients are more attracted to properties that have large areas.
